Place Value Spin Wheel Game

Description

A Math teacher at the school where I teach showed me a game that helps students practice their place values.  This is a very simple digital version of it that I made fairly quickly today/tonight so her students (and mine -- blahahaha) can play it using the SMARTboard or a personal electronic device.  I hope you enjoy it.  It is free to download in the hopes that it may be used to help more people practice their place values.  If you would like to use on a website of some sort, please let me know -- I tend to like seeing my work published!:-P!:-D!

I used these tutorials to help me make this game:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=9veYMj…www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuPwj5… , and www.kirupa.com/developer/actio… .

Enjoy -- math is fun!:-D!

P.S.  The game is easier to read when it is displayed in a tab by itself -- I suggest downloading a copy to get a better experience.

Rules of the game:  Press the green button on the left to display a random number and to start your spin.

Press the red button on the right to stop your spin.

There are six place values displayed:  "ones," "tens," "hundreds," "thousands," "ten thousands," and "hundred thousands."

When you have brought your spin to a stop, the green ball will be on one of the three place values.

Say the name of the digit in the place value on which the green ball is resting.

This ends your turn.

If multiple people are playing, it is now the next person-in-line's turn.  If you are playing alone, spin again.

Repeat as often as desired.

Have fun.
